Helicopter Training Programs

Private Pilot – Helicopter

✔ The first step toward becoming a helicopter pilot

✔ Learn foundational flight skills, navigation, and emergency procedures

✔ No prior experience needed

Eligibility Requirements

- Minimum 17 years of age prior to course completion.

- Able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.

- Hold a valid 3rd Class FAA medical certificate.

- Hold a FAA Student Pilot Certificate prior to Solo Flight.

Certification Requirements

- 40 hours of flight time

- 20 hours of flight training from an authorized instructor

- 3 hours of dual cross-country flight training

- 3 hours of dual night flight training

- 10 hours of solo flight time

- 35 hours of Ground Instruction

- Pass the FAA Knowledge Test

- Pass the FAA Practical Exam

Instrument Rating – Helicopter

✔ Required for career advancement and professional piloting

Requirements:

Private Pilot Certificate

50+ hours cross-country flight time

Eligibility Requirements

- Hold at least a current FAA Private Pilot Rotorcraft/Helicopter Certificate

- Able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language

- Hold a valid 3rd Class FAA medical certificate

Certification Requirements

- 50 hours of cross-country flight time as pilot in command

- 40 hours of actual or simulated instrument

- 30 hours of Ground Instruction

- Pass the FAA Knowledge Test

- Pass the FAA Practical Exam

Commercial Pilot – Helicopter

Requirements:

Private Pilot CertificateMinimum 150 flight hours (FAA requirement)

Eligibility Requirements

- Hold a current FAA Private Pilot Rotorcraft/Helicopter Certificate

- Minimum 18 years of age prior to course completion

- Able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language

- Hold a valid 3rd Class FAA medical certificate

Certification Requirements

- 150 hours of flight time as a pilot

- 100 hours in powered aircraft

- 50 hours must be in helicopters

- 100 hours of pilot-in-command flight time

- 35 hours in helicopters

- 10 hours in cross-country flight in helicopters

- 20 hours of helicopter training

- 5 hours by reference to instruments using a view-limiting device

- One 2-hour cross country flight in a helicopter in daytime

- One 2-hour cross country flight in a helicopter in nighttime

- 5 hours PIC in night VFR conditions

- 10 hours of flight time as pilot in command with an instructor

- 30 hours Ground Instruction

- Pass the FAA Knowledge Test

- Pass the FAA Practical Test

Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) & Instrument Instructor (CFII)

✔ Become a flight instructor and build flight hours

✔ Teach students and develop advanced helicopter skills

✔ CFII certification allows instruction for instrument-rated pilots

CFI Certification Requirements

- Must read, speak, and understand English

- Hold at least a Commercial Pilot Certificate

- Pass Two FAA Written Exams

- Basic Med or FAA 3rd Class Medical

- 25 hours minimum flight training

- 40 hours minimum of ground training

- Pass oral/practical test conducted by FAA Designated Examiner

CFI-I Certification Requirements

- Must read, speak, and understand English

- Hold a CPL or higher Certificate with Rotorcraft Catageory and IFR Rating

- Pass FAA Written Exam

- Basic Med or FAA 3rd Class Medical

- 15 hours minimum flight training

- 30 hours minimum of ground training

- Pass oral/practical test conducted by an FAA designated examiner
