INSTRUMENT PILOT COURSE
Completion of the Instrument Pilot Certification will allow a pilot to plan, file, and fly on an Instrument
Flight plan in an Instrument rated helicopter. This certification is usually required for a Professional Pilot. Having an Instrument Rating allows for flying when there is not perfect VFR weather, hugely increasing pilot safety when skies are not clear.
Eligibility Requirements
- Hold at least a current FAA Private Pilot Rotorcraft/Helicopter Certificate
- Able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
- Hold a valid 3rd Class FAA medical certificate
Certification Requirements
- 50 hours of cross-country flight time as pilot in command
- 40 hours of actual or simulated instrument
- 30 hours of Ground Instruction
- Pass the FAA Knowledge Test
- Pass the FAA Practical Exam
